NCC as an Elective Subject

                                                                        NCC AS AN ELECTIVE SUBJECT

1.    With the changes in the national policies in respect of education, HR and Youth development, it has been sought to include NCC

within the school/ college curriculum rather than as an extraneous activity.

2.     Accordingly, a provision now exists for educational institutions -- already having NCC -- to give recognition to it as an elective subject.

3.     In this regard the following aspects merit attendtion:-

        (a)     The scheme would be permissible only to those education institutions which have NCC i.e. they are attached to an NCC Unit.

        (b)     Permission to take up NCC as an elective subject would be accorded by education board under whose aegis it functions (CBSE,

State Board, UGC, Autonomous University etc). Applications must be duly endorsed by the local NCC unit specifying JD/ JW/ SD/ SW.

        (c)     Institutions not hitherto having NCC and desirous of taking it up may contact the local NCC unit/ directorate for inclusion and other details.

Contact info is available on the home page of website under the 'Contact Us' link.
